MRI CSF Flow Non-Contrast Imaging

MRM3400
Course Type: Online Course
Cost: $0.00
Course Length: 1 Hr
Credits: 1
Credit Type: CE

This presentation will discuss CSF Flow imaging using Phase Shift and Canon’s non-contrast Time-SLIP technique for both quantitative and qualitative imaging purposes.

Phase Shift (PS) MRA and Time-SLIP techniques are versatile pulse sequences that have specific qualities that enable the user to apply them to CSF Flow in the head region using either ECG or PPG gating method.

The 2D Phase Shift technique can be used to acquire either Quantitative or Qualitative aspects of imaging, or the 2D FASE Time-SLIP technique, an advanced type of sequence that depicts CSF Flow, is for qualitative imaging only.

The objectives of this presentation is to:

  • Familiarize the user on the principles of Phase Shift for quantitative imaging and Time-SLIP for qualitative imaging
  • How to set up the patient and coil within the MRI magnet
  • Set up, use and optimization of PPG gating
  • Planning of the imaging volume
  • Demonstrate the ease of use of Phase Shift and Time SLIP imaging techniques
  • Understand the optimization of Flow Encode (Velocity Encoding) values

Renal Non-Contrast MRA Time-SLIP

MRM3200
Course Type: Online Course
Cost: $20.00
Course Length: 1 Hr
Credits: 1
Credit Type: CE

In this presentation we will be discussing Canon’s third generation non-contrast MRA technique of the renal arteries called Time-SLIP, or Time-Spatial Labeling Inversion Pulse. This technique is an arterial spin labeling variant (aka: ASL), combined with a respiratory-gated 3DSSFP technique, that uses the actual blood to be imaged as its own tracer, instead of injecting patients with a contrast agent. The blood vessels of interest, as in this presentation the renal arteries, are visualized in detail by the selective tagging of the blood and using a BBTI (Black Blood TI) value for the proper timing of the imaging volume.

Time-SLIPs versatility is manifested in its applicability to many regions of the body to evaluate both hemodynamic properties and visualization of vascular structures, especially in regions where vessels are oriented in multiple directions, such as the renal arteries.

The objectives of this presentation is to train the user on the principles of Time-SLIP, how to set up the patient and coils within the MRI magnet, description of the respiratory-gated sequence used for imaging the renal arteries, proper planning of the imaging volume and tag pulses, as well as a basic understanding of the BBTI values and how to troubleshoot and adjust according to the patient’s condition.

Optimization of Breast Sonography

ULM1570
Course Type: Online Course
Cost: $20.00
Course Length: 1 Hr
Credits: 1
Credit Type: CME

Sonography of the breast is extremely technique and operator-dependent. We will discuss proper equipment, system optimization, and proper scanning techniques. This session will also provide in-depth information on which women can benefit most from breast ultrasound, as an adjunct to mammography; illustrate the complementary roles of mammography and ultrasound; and discuss the latest developments in breast ultrasound technology and their applications.

Course Type: Online Course
Cost: $20.00
Course Length: 1 Hr
Credits: 1
Credit Type: CME

The goal of this course is to give the sonographer a clear understanding of some different elastography techniques (including Strain, Shear Wave, and newer tools, e.g., for fatty Liver Analysis) and how they can be used in a variety of clinical scenarios.
